Why build an art instead of joining one

Every martial art started as an act of theft. The real tradition is assembly.

Karate is Chinese boxing filtered through Okinawan farmers. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is judo carried across an ocean and rebuilt by a family small enough to need leverage. None of them came down from a mountain.

Somewhere in the last century that stopped. People quit asking whether something works and started asking whether it is authentic, which nobody being attacked in a car park has ever cared about.

A modern fight looks nothing like a duel. It is short and ugly, and somebody is usually filming it. It usually starts at talking distance, indoors on concrete, often with someone holding a phone. Every traditional art is right about part of that and blind to the rest.

Kingjutsu starts from one question. What would you build if you could take the best part of each art and be honest about what each one costs?

The answer is five ranges and the weapons, held together by one code. The curriculum on this site is that answer, recorded one lesson at a time.
